Our Story:
In just a few short years, what started as a small food truck that was open for just a couple days a week has turned into a full-fledged business. For that, we have to thank our local John’s Island community.
Without you guys, none of this would be possible.
We’re a 100% family-owned business and we plan to keep it that way. Chef Josefa Figueroa can be found in the kitchen almost daily, cooking her latest specialties and Mexican classics.

We didn’t expect a pandemic…
It all started with the 2020 pandemic.
Like many people, our family and our livelihoods were affected by the event. About one year before, we had invested in a food truck with the dream of having a weekend hustle selling Mexican snacks and fruit bowls.
After some of us lost our jobs/businesses, we all decided to go all-in on the food truck, with no idea where it could go.
We all came together and started Tacos La Familia. A 100% family-owned business.
It took several months to pick up, and there were many days when we’d sit by the roadside for hours without a single customer.
As more and more people came by, though, the word began to spread, and soon we were a popular lunch spot on John’s Island.
Looking back today, it’s amazing the support that we’ve gotten from our local community.
The point being - you guys, our customers, are the reason why we’re here and have made this all possible.
For this, we’re grateful to each and every customer that comes here. We want to give you an authentic taste of Mexico and invite you to come to sit at our table.
House-made salsas every day, hand-made tortillas, and three-generation-old meat recipes.
Locals say we’re one of the best taco trucks in Charleston. But you can be the judge of that…
